LIVING HOPE MEDICAL CENTRE

When the Merciful International Guild was started way back in the year 2003 the Vision of operating a Faith based medical facility was conceived, where collaboration with the Happy Spiritual Church was initiated. The two institutions has made a milestone towards the Vision by acquiring land in a very strategic position within the Nyandarua County where they intend to put up the facility. Plans are at an advanced stage to jump start the Center because Merciful International Guild has been running a VCT now for the last one year and plans are under way to set up a Laboratory in the next few months. This will be the gate opener and the sky will be the limit, the Living Hope Medical Center will focus on the three Millennium Development Goals Nos. 4, 5 and 6 which deals with the issues of Health.

They are MDG 3. "Reduce Child Mortality" MDG 4. "Improve Maternal Health" MDG 5. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Other Diseases". To attain this vision then Merciful International Guild will require to develop partnership with as many organization as possible who will share in the implementation by contributing resources. The resources could range from Funds, Human, Material or expertise. No single advice will be ignored although we know that not all will dbe applicable in the implementation.

The Facility will be a beckon of hope to an average of 65,000 people in two counties and we envisage that it will be 100 ward bed for obstetric mothers, and 150 ward beds for children.

Great minds knows where they are coming from and where they are going.

OUR VCT CENTER

When Merciful International Guild started its operations it core vision was to curb the HIV pandemic in Kenya, although we did not get any funding from the institutions that were funding the HIV activities then we did not despair in our endeavor until early last year 2009 that the National Aids Control Council funded us for the Up Take of the PMTCT in the Nyandarua District. This was a milestone to the organization where we ensured that the message went across the board and reached as many people as possible.

However, this journey was not all roses but it was thorny and bumpy, after meeting with the residents of the now Nyandarua county it was agreed that they need an accessible stand alone VCT center which we started mid last year and it coded by the NASCOP as site no 206-07, the site is located at Njabini town of South Kinangop. Currently we are operating with one VCT Counselor and the uptake is growing day by day and soon we are planning to increase and have three counselors and one laboratory technologist and we are sure that we will get there soon. If we could do all this with the support of the welwishers, friends and the support from the Board members then we will do greater things when we will get sustainable funding to run the VCT center.

To we long for AN HIV/AIDS FREE SOCIETY IN OUR WORLD TODAY

A BLESSED YEAR THAT GOD GAVE US

As we come to the end of the year it is a great pleasure to applaud all our partners in development during this year. It started in a very high note because we were implementing a project for Cooperative Managers and Staffs that was funded by the ILO/CoopAfrica it was a great joy to explore the cooperatives and their role in poverty eradication inn our society. Although they have a thousands plus challenges especially in the areas of marketing and management the few that were able to pass through our six days capacity building programme applauded  the opportunity given to them to attend the workshops.

As we were rolling out our plans we also blessed to have with us the blessed lady who is the Executive Director of the World Impact Network (www.worldimpactnetwork.org) Gabriella Van Breda who held a workshop on Global Leadership Development Training Seminar for Religious and Community leaders from what we are now calling counties Nyandarua, Kiambu and Kajaido. The training which emphasised so much on self exploration was geared to ensure that each leader could easily identify the potential in him/her and the use the locally available resources. Many who are exploiting the traits learned in the workshop with Madam Gabriella are enjoying the fruits of those few hours and days that we spent together. We know that she is planning to come again with more insight and knowledge. Together with her was Fred Breedlove who is Elder at Mountain View Community Church in Snohomish, who also is very resourceful person and the two weeks  he was in Kenya were of great importance to us all. With his message of h|ope to many he inspired them on how to focus on the future. Also in the Team was Olu Oluwatofehinti Associate Pastor at the Bellevue Foursquare Church who also inspired the Religious leaders who had attended the  forum.

As the runner up for the reforms were going on Merciful International Guild was not left out either because we got funding from UNDP-Amkeni Wakenya Programm to train 160 Women on the Participatory Reforms a project that emphasised on the role of women as voters. To be able to participate in the voting process in Kenya one must be in possession of the National Identification card and then register as a voter a phenomenon that we realized that it is not applicable to many women. It is estimated that over one million eligible women especially in the central region has no ID cards and therefore they cannot participate in the reform process because they cannot vote for their leaders nor the constitutional order. During the Seminars we were blessed to have with us one of the Programme Officers from Amkeni Wakenya Madam Tania Mutuku who paid a courtesy call to us and it was all joy as she shared with us and even sat with the trainees in the hall.

As we work on the final report our Tributes goes to all who funded our projects ILO/CoopAfrica, National Aids Control Council, Amkeni Wakenya, World Impact Network and many of our friends whose contribution cannot be ignored because it has brought us this far.

God Bless you all
