When Merciful International Guild started its operations it core vision was to curb the HIV pandemic in Kenya, although we did not get any funding from the institutions that were funding the HIV activities then we did not despair in our endeavor until early last year 2009 that the National Aids Control Council funded us for the Up Take of the PMTCT in the Nyandarua District. This was a milestone to the organization where we ensured that the message went across the board and reached as many people as possible.
However, this journey was not all roses but it was thorny and bumpy, after meeting with the residents of the now Nyandarua county it was agreed that they need an accessible stand alone VCT center which we started mid last year and it coded by the NASCOP as site no 206-07, the site is located at Njabini town of South Kinangop. Currently we are operating with one VCT Counselor and the uptake is growing day by day and soon we are planning to increase and have three counselors and one laboratory technologist and we are sure that we will get there soon. If we could do all this with the support of the welwishers, friends and the support from the Board members then we will do greater things when we will get sustainable funding to run the VCT center.
